Most of my writing thus far and what I’ll post soon focuses on my broader worldviews/paradigms that lie beneath my approach to creating spaces of deep connection. But this conversation gets a bit more specific (dare I say grounded) about what I mean when I say co-creating spaces of deep connection… what the process looks like in practice.

I chatted with my friends Vicky and Key on their Surviving The City Podcast about all things building deep connection and shared some stories that led me on this path to building deep connection! What we chatted about:

  • The depths of “depression” that catalyzed me into dance after moving to New York City 13 years ago
  • Why I didn’t quit my PhD program and how it grounded my future artistic/organizing efforts
  • My approach to co-creating spaces of deep connection
  • How my directness translates into my approach to co-creating spaces of deep connection
  • The centrality of discovering, providing for, and speaking up for our needs as we build spaces of deep connection
  • Positive versus negative disruption as an approach to building liberating spaces
  • What creating deep connection to self and other looks like in initial Raw Movement sessions
  • A key question that guides us as we co-create deep connection and how that question maps to other fields/disciplines
  • My approach to addressing anxiety, stress, and fear in relationships and group spaces
  • Our dreams of creating informal homes/houses within which to build deep connection
  • How Raw Movement is a vehicle for my dreams of deep connection, home, family

To listen to the conversation, visit The Surviving The City Podcast on Spotify or on Apple Podcasts. Surviving The City discusses down to earth personal and collective growth for city creatives and it is hosted by my friennnnds.

These ideas and questions are central to Raw Movement, an approach to inquiring about and experimenting with co-creating spaces of deep connection through collective (movement) practice.
